The advantages of ball screw are:
(1) The rolling friction coefficient is small, the transmission efficiency is high, and its efficiency can reach over 90%. The friction coefficient f is 0.002-0.005;
(2) The relationship between friction coefficient and speed is not significant, so the starting torque is close to the operating torque and the work is relatively stable;
(3) Low wear and long lifespan, adjustable clearance can be adjusted with a device, resulting in improved transmission accuracy and stiffness;
(4) It does not have self-locking properties and can transform linear motion into rotational motion.
The disadvantages of ball screw are:
(1) Complex structure and difficult manufacturing;
(2) In mechanisms that require prevention of reversal, self-locking mechanisms should be added;
(3) The bearing capacity is not as strong as that of sliding spiral transmission.
